What if community pharmacies could do more to:
- Care for older adults and;
- Reduce unpaid caregiving responsibility and stress which overwhelmingly falls on women?
Vietnam is among the world’s fastest-aging countries, with nearly 10 million adults over 65 facing interconnected health challenges including bone loss, malnutrition, and polypharmacy. These factors increase their health risks and put pressure on unpaid caregivers at home, most of whom are women. Community pharmacies already serve customers over age 65 — but have not received specialized training or digital connections with doctors to enable them to provide optional elderly care.
With support from Investing in Women, an initiative of the Australian Government, SwipeRx is piloting an innovative, gender-responsive and technology-enhanced model to equip pharmacies with the ability and motivation to:
🎯Conduct bone density screening and provide counseling on nutrition and movement
🎯Review medications and identify polypharmacy risks using globally endorsed tools
🎯Connect digitally with doctors for efficient advice and referral pathways
